Navarredonda de Gredos
We have a couple of days of, so invited by Isabel off we went to Sierra de Gredos. It’s about 167km from Madrid. Madrid decided to celebrate the 1st of may on the 3th of may, entered a free day (for whatever unclear reason) the 2nd and therefore allowing everybody to go out for 4 days… Although we left pretty late we where still trapped in trafic at 3 o’clock in the afternoon when heading to Escorial. The Sierra is great, it made me think of Scotland (while I’ve never been in Scotland), but green very windy and we were actually very lucky it didn’t rain those 4 days.

We made a nice walk around the area the same day and it was a releave to hear birds sing again and walking through the pinewoods of the area, up untill the Parador de Gredos. We left Madrid in a pretty sunny weather, but Gredos was fresh
How I missed my bike over here. Nico came with his but Isabel had worked all night before and preferred somebody else to take the care. A shame, but I will repeat this with the bike, very nice curving clean streets.
When heading from Madrid, you should take the A6/N6 untill exit ‘Las Rosas / Escorial’ then follow the M-505 and on the roundabout before entering the town (which is worth stopping ofcourse !), turn left and continue on the M-505 to Avila. From the roundabout untill Avila, there is almost nothing so be sure to have enough gas
