It’s been such a long time ago since my last hangover that I should keep the one I had yesterday in memory. After a whole week with only 2 hours in the office (I’m working from home - that’s why I couldn’t bring myself up to update choepie during the week, enough computing my guess) we had a wedding of Marga & Ruben on fridayevening. Staring for a full hour at a pillar in the church, trying to copy the gymnastics of my neighbours (sit/stand/sit/stand… can’t they ever make up their mind ??? or is it a nice trick to keep everbody from taking a nap ??). Very nice choir by the way. I guess I found myself a good enough reason to visit a church once in a while, the accoustics of it are great. The wedding party was in a nice hotel on the Castillana, Intercontinental, where at that very moment the Barcelona footballteam was hosted for ‘El clasico’ Real-Madrid/Barcelona on saturday evening.
The food was good, but the speed of the dinner must have been an attempt to get this wedding in the Guiness Book of Records, at the moment you found the tools to start on the first plate they were almost there to grab it away for the second one. In less then no time we finished the starter (a seafruit salad), a Lomo de Merluza, a solomillo and a ice dessert, the wedding cake, coffee and a digestivo… completely stuffed we were invited to watch the opening dance. Welcome in Spain, where Sevillian girls are at their best : hands curling in the air, proud looking, chin in the air. It would have been very embarrasing for a stiff foreigner like me, wasn’t it for the ammount of beer/wine/Whisky-Coke that made me giving it a try without much of a hesitation. I guess it was Maria from Malaga (actually from around Toledo) that grabt my hand and thought me a very Sevillian dance. I though I was doing very well, before seeing the video afterwards… while I was thinking I really handled it like a matador, afterwards it looked more like a remake of Queens’ “I want to break free” (where Freddy Mercury, dressed like a women, is vacuumcleaning a livingroom…). I did had a good time, the DJ made a risky mix between ‘tengo un camisa negra’ and Metallica’s “Wherever I may roam” … nobody except me seemed to be shocked by that. Spaniards can have a lot.
